Frewing 46th General Hospital images

The Frewing 46th General Hospital image collection depicts the people and scenery from Dr. H. Leslie Frewing’s experiences while serving as a surgeon at the 46th General Hospital’s bases in Kansas and France. After World War II, Frewing settled with his family in Vancouver, Washington, and became one of the four founders of The Vancouver Clinic before continuing medical work abroad. This collection consists of photographs of people at 46th General Hospital bases, primarily engaged in leisurely activities such as swimming, playing baseball, riding motorcycles, driving, and hiking. Other photographs show the scenery of churches, narrow streets, water fountains, hillsides, rivers, many presumably taken in Southern France where the hospital was located beginning in August of 1944.
