AB  - A community mental health clinic in the Pacific Northwest (The Clinic) wanted to incorporate the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Questionnaire for Adults into the new client intake process. The intention was to gain deeper insight into their clients, and to guide the development of relevant, trauma-related programs. Screening for trauma, and the environments in which this is done, may be unintentionally re-traumatizing. This is particularly important to consider in the public mental health sector which serves a disproportionately high number of trauma survivors.
