The intention was to gain deeper insight into their clients, and to guide the development of relevant, trauma-related programs. Screening for trauma, and the environments in which this is done, may be unintentionally re-traumatizing. This is particularly important to consider in the public mental health sector which serves a disproportionately high number of trauma survivors.
