000010065 520__ $$aMulti-use ophthalmic medications are a potential cause of ocular infection and carry a risk of transmitting pathogenic microorganisms. The incidence of microbial contamination of eye dropper bottles varies widely in the literature, ranging from 0.07% to 70% and not all ophthalmic solutions carry equal risk of contamination. This pilot study seeks to compare the rates of microbial contamination among multi-use ophthalmic solutions in an outpatient clinic after 28 days of use.
