      abstract = {Every day there are families who face the task of deciding  the fate of loved ones involved in catastrophic events  which have rendered them brain dead. Each year, of the  20,000 who die who would qualify as organ donors, only 15%  actually become organ donors. This is largely because  families were not presented with the opportunity to donate.  This study proposed to describe the experiences of the  legal decision makers who are involved in such situations  and who have consented to donate the organs of brain dead  individuals for transplantation.},
