TY - GEN N2 - Regular exercise is essential for the overall health of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) but managing blood glucose levels during and after exercise can be challenging. There are currently no models that describe both aerobic and resistance exercise. This dissertation aims to address these limitations by presenting the first in-depth study of resistance exercise in T1D using an in-clinic glucose tracer study, developing new models of glucose dynamics for both aerobic and resistance exercise, and evaluating their performance in the largest free-living study of exercise in T1D to-date. This work also presents a framework for a prototype decision support system based on new models of glucose dynamics in exercise.
