000001776 520__ $$aCommunication between health professionals and patients has often been described as generally unsatisfactory and a substantial obstacle to good health care. Research into the scope, nature, and roots of the problem remains limited, and therefore, a solution is not imminent. The present investigation was undertaken in order to augment knowledge in this area. Specifically, this study concerns communication between mothers of children with congenital heart defects and the staff attending these children, and focuses on specific items of information.
