In the adult, these disorders may include acute or chronic inflammatory processes due to obstructions or infection, atropic changes due to radiation or aging, neoplasms, neurogenic factors, or a disease such as diabetes mellitus. In the pediatric age group, the etiology may include vitamin and iron deficiencies, endocrine disorders, and an agenesis or hypoplasia of the salivary glands. It is the purpose of this report to present a case of congenital xerostomia due to apparent atresias of the parotid and submandibular ducts and to substantiate an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance for the atresias. 000001787 540__ $$fCC BY 000001787 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000001787 650__ $$aXerostomia$$028041 000001787 650__ $$aGenetics$$019472 000001787 650__ $$aChild$$016462 000001787 650__ $$aSalivary Glands$$025674 000001787 650__ $$aGenetic Diseases, Inborn$$033830 000001787 6531_ $$ainborn 000001787 6531_ $$agenetic diseases 000001787 691__ $$aUO Dental School$$041360 000001787 692__ $$aDepartment of Orthodontics$$041435 000001787 7001_ $$aLax, Peter J.$$uUniversity of Oregon$$041359 000001787 7201_ $$aRetzlaff, Arthur E.$$uUniversity of Oregon$$041359$$7Personal$$eCommittee chair 000001787 7201_ $$aPorter, Donald$$uUniversity of Oregon$$041359$$7Personal$$eCommittee member 000001787 8564_ $$97f2ab1b6-df1b-43d7-a008-b3d9b6a2c600$$s3636307$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/1787/files/2490_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2288605433023d0255e05cbe8549d8f68$$31 000001787 905__ $$a/rest/prod/3j/33/32/40/3j333240t 000001787 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:1787$$qstudent-work 000001787 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
