There was a need for a web-based smoking program at the Portland VA Medical Center because of the large demand for smoking cessation classes. Cost and personal shortage for traditional classes made it necessary to look for other options. The web-based program offered some advantages such as at home learning. Previous work has suggested that CAI might be a cost-effective alternative to traditional classes. Widespread implementation of smoking cessation programs is an important clinical and public health priority. Web-based patient education may provide advantages over traditional methods such as increased accessibility and personal interaction through electronic conferencing. 000001823 540__ $$fCC BY 000001823 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000001823 650__ $$aSmoking Cessation$$029204 000001823 650__ $$aInternet$$032394 000001823 650__ $$aCost-Benefit Analysis$$017144 000001823 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000001823 692__ $$aDivision of Medical Informatics and Outcomes Research$$041423 000001823 7001_ $$aHuey, Calvin$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000001823 8564_ $$9dbda0d2f-0a45-4157-b8d5-75d3ec424d12$$s4463326$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/1823/files/2526_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$22d8508ea06a64a466f82ea47b266f648$$31 000001823 905__ $$a/rest/prod/th/83/kz/50/th83kz501 000001823 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:1823$$pstudent-work 000001823 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
