Participants (ages 16–31) were assessed at least two years post-treatment for periodontal health indicators. Patients with second premolars extracted exhibited significantly worse outcomes, including greater probing depth, attachment loss, bleeding, plaque accumulation, and food impaction (p<0.05). In contrast, first premolar extraction patients remained periodontally healthy. The findings suggest that contact between the mandibular first premolar and first molar following second premolar extraction may increase the risk of localized periodontal breakdown. 000002138 540__ $$fCC BY 000002138 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002138 650__ $$aPeriodontal Index$$023824 000002138 650__ $$aBicuspid$$015521 000002138 650__ $$aMolar$$022381 000002138 650__ $$aOrthodontics$$023308 000002138 650__ $$aTooth Extraction$$027181 000002138 692__ $$aDepartment of Orthodontics$$041435 000002138 7001_ $$aCarter, Chris$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002138 8564_ $$92b345959-69e5-40e9-afa3-a818154cc401$$s785650$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2138/files/2867_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2b0391d23d96de600b1a2cd986faf1504$$31 000002138 901__ $$a<p>These documents are archival records.
