000002181 520__ $$aThis study examined the association between income and intimate partner violence before pregnancy (IPVB) and during pregnancy (IPVP), and the role of socio-demographic risk factors. Cross-sectional PRAMS data from 3,327 Oregon women (2000–2001) were analyzed using logistic and multinomial regression. Low income and smoking were strongly associated with both IPVB and IPVP. Women abused only during pregnancy differed socio-demographically from those abused before or across pregnancy. Findings highlight low income and smoking as key risk factors and suggest pregnancy-only abuse represents a distinct population.
