This theory is extended to include liquid mixtures. When binary mixtures are considered, a singularity is found in the threshold condition in certain circumstances. This leads to the possibility of measuring the anisotropic polarizability difference for one of the liquids. In addition, the appearance of the singularity suggests a method of determining whether saturation plays an important role in stimulated Rayleigh-wing scattering. 000000022 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000022 650__ $$aLight$$021511 000000022 6531_ $$ascattering 000000022 6531_ $$aliquids 000000022 692__ $$aDepartment of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics$$041410 000000022 7001_ $$aFreeman, James A., Jr.$$uOregon Graduate Center$$041351 000000022 7201_ $$aGray, Michael$$uOregon Graduate Center$$041351$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000022 7201_ $$aLoehr, Thomas$$uOregon Graduate Center$$041351$$7Personal$$eCommittee member 000000022 7201_ $$aHurst, James K.$$uOregon Graduate Center$$041351$$7Personal$$eCommittee member 000000022 7201_ $$aBarofsky, Douglas$$uOregon Graduate Center$$041351$$7Personal$$eCommittee member 000000022 8564_ $$94ea1eeb4-fcb8-400d-8cae-b76b1acbdaf1$$s10438807$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/22/files/22_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$296766ecd4c73b9107d847a7bb780bee2$$31 000000022 905__ $$a/rest/prod/cr/56/n0/96/cr56n096b 000000022 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:22$$pstudent-work 000000022 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
