The US Preventative Services Task Force recommends routine screening for depression to improve patient outcomes. However, screening has not been widely implemented in primary care. Linking optical mark reader technology with an electronic health record offers a process to facilitate screening by reducing the time burden of screening. In addition, universal screenings can reduce the stigma often associated with mental health screening. I report a pilot experience with patient completed depression questionnaires interfaced into an EHR using OMR technology. 000002253 540__ $$fCC BY 000002253 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002253 650__ $$aMedical Informatics$$021938 000002253 650__ $$aDepressive Disorder$$017617 000002253 650__ $$aMental Health$$022046 000002253 650__ $$aElectronic Health Records$$038928 000002253 650__ $$aPrimary Health Care$$024590 000002253 650__ $$aSurveys and Questionnaires$$025037 000002253 650__ $$aAmbulatory Care$$014522 000002253 650__ $$aDepression$$017614 000002253 650__ $$aMedical Records Systems, Computerized$$029086 000002253 650__ $$aElectronic Data Processing$$015239 000002253 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002253 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041422 000002253 7001_ $$aLeBlanc, Benjamin$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002253 7201_ $$aYackel, Thomas$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor$$eMentor 000002253 8564_ $$986aa8a16-9f65-4461-a75d-d58bbacf4167$$s2163731$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2253/files/2982_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2a2c9434e304d27f5380be04f7dcf714b$$31 000002253 905__ $$a/rest/prod/7m/01/bk/94/7m01bk944 000002253 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2253$$pstudent-work 000002253 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
