Energy distribution curves (EDC) and angular distribution curves (ADC) of photoemission from gold thin films were first studied theoretically and experimentally to understand and model the emission characteristics from thin-film photoemitters. A theoretical model for gated photocathodes based on these EDC and ADC results was developed to address the operational principles and to calculate currents as a function of gate voltage for a variety of conditions. 000002531 540__ $$fCC BY 000002531 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002531 650__ $$aModels, Theoretical$$022380 000002531 6531_ $$aphotoemitters 000002531 6531_ $$aenergy distribution curves 000002531 691__ $$aOGI School of Science and Engineering$$041365 000002531 7001_ $$aPei, Zeting$$uOregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology$$041352 000002531 7201_ $$aBerglund, Neil$$uOregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology$$041352$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000002531 8564_ $$9d90b42d4-a047-41e1-b78a-daae36683237$$s59000042$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2531/files/3272_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$26bb89583e7d74e54e859a355207834f4$$31 000002531 905__ $$a/rest/prod/th/83/kz/60/th83kz608 000002531 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2531$$pstudent-work 000002531 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
