By standardizing the language used to describe nursing care, nurses can begin to use clinical information systems to identify the benefits of nursing interventions within various patients in various populations. Traditional software designers now realize the value of qualitative research in the development and evaluation of information systems. This paper presents the development of a prototype nursing information system using contextual software design methodology. This prototype system will link the Nursing Intervention Classification with the Nursing Outcomes Classification using pain management as the exemplar. 000002557 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002557 650__ $$aMedical Informatics$$021938 000002557 650__ $$aNursing Care$$023085 000002557 650__ $$aPatient Care Planning$$023662 000002557 650__ $$aSoftware Design$$026160 000002557 650__ $$aClassification$$016768 000002557 650__ $$aOutcome Assessment, Health Care$$029660 000002557 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002557 692__ $$aDivision of Medical Informatics and Outcomes Research$$041423 000002557 7001_ $$aRessler, Sean$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002557 7201_ $$aCaton, Katherine$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eCommittee chair 000002557 8564_ $$99dd7de94-ba13-4571-88ba-6745a7a3a298$$s5973372$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2557/files/3300_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2a787ed1e4545f614b17709a27e7aeddf$$31 000002557 905__ $$a/rest/prod/4f/16/c3/07/4f16c307d 000002557 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2557$$pstudent-work 000002557 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
