Using rhesus macaques, we show that IL-15 is essential for NK cell maintenance and TEM stability; anti-IL-15 antibody caused NK cell depletion and induced high-turnover TEM homeostasis. During acute and chronic SIV infection, IL-15 neutralization did not alter viral replication or disease progression, despite significant immune cell changes. These findings indicate that elevated IL-15 during SIV infection is not a primary driver of pathogenesis and NK cells play a limited role in SIV control. 000002700 540__ $$fCC BY 000002700 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002700 650__ $$aHIV$$020258 000002700 650__ $$aMacaca mulatta$$021724 000002700 650__ $$aInterleukin-15$$031603 000002700 650__ $$aHomeostasis$$020285 000002700 650__ $$aT-Lymphocytes$$026731 000002700 650__ $$aMemory T Cells$$013784 000002700 650__ $$aSimian Immunodeficiency Virus$$028304 000002700 650__ $$aAllergy and Immunology$$014456 000002700 650__ $$aKiller Cells, Natural$$021208 000002700 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002700 692__ $$aDepartment of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology$$041429 000002700 7001_ $$aDeGottardi, Maren$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002700 7201_ $$aPicker, Louis$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eMentor 000002700 8564_ $$923ae952c-1b3e-4ab1-bc2f-a4bb606e0dae$$s55354246$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2700/files/3489_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2943500110c8c1cca05e22a9da0725e8f$$31 000002700 905__ $$a/rest/prod/6h/44/0s/64/6h440s64h 000002700 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2700$$pstudent-work 000002700 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
