However, disease resistance and disease persistence have prevented targeted kinase therapy from being curative. Depending upon the disease state, kinase inhibitors may be effective for many years or only a few months before secondary resistance develops. Even for diseases where treatment is efficacious for many years, patients must be treated continuously, as interruption of the therapy results in disease growth within a few weeks or months. The goal of this thesis work was to address both disease resistance and persistence in KIT-mutant mast cell cancer models through the development of novel combination therapies. 000002730 540__ $$fCC BY 000002730 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002730 650__ $$aNeoplasms$$022758 000002730 650__ $$aMastocytosis$$021866 000002730 650__ $$aProto-Oncogene Proteins c-kit$$031279 000002730 650__ $$aDrug Therapy, Combination$$018087 000002730 6531_ $$acancer 000002730 6531_ $$amast cell disease 000002730 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002730 692__ $$aDepartment of Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology$$041399 000002730 7001_ $$aMacleod, Alison$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002730 7201_ $$aHeinrich, Michael$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000002730 8564_ $$99e94085d-0386-484b-8485-f55dc1599e22$$s3304512$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2730/files/3459_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2b8b6c3ca0a7a873f22a92cb2bc88634d$$31 000002730 905__ $$a/rest/prod/34/84/zh/24/3484zh248 000002730 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2730$$pstudent-work 000002730 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
