This dissertation examines the effects of the neuroactive steroid analog ganaxolone (GAN) on ethanol seeking and intake in male C57BL/6J mice, alongside gaboxadol (THIP), an agonist selective for extrasynaptic GABAA_AA receptors. Findings aim to clarify the role of synaptic versus extrasynaptic GABAA_AA receptor activation in modulating ethanol-related behaviors and identify the nucleus accumbens shell as a potential neural substrate for these effects. 000002739 540__ $$fCC BY 000002739 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002739 650__ $$aEthanol$$014406 000002739 650__ $$aIsoxazoles$$021089 000002739 650__ $$aAlcohol-Related Disorders$$032034 000002739 650__ $$aPregnanolone$$024553 000002739 650__ $$agamma-Aminobutyric Acid$$019337 000002739 650__ $$aNeurosteroids$$013246 000002739 650__ $$aMice, Inbred C57BL$$022241 000002739 650__ $$aAlcoholism$$014412 000002739 650__ $$aMice$$036842 000002739 650__ $$aAlcohol Drinking$$014403 000002739 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002739 692__ $$aDepartment of Behavioral Neuroscience$$041394 000002739 7001_ $$aRamaker, Marcia$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002739 7201_ $$aFinn, Deborah$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eMentor 000002739 8564_ $$98331fa59-0283-43e1-8fdb-cc4d3f83e18d$$s3711123$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2739/files/3521_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2373cf8bce307d74a49b877a5c0786533$$31 000002739 905__ $$a/rest/prod/qf/85/nb/50/qf85nb50p 000002739 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2739$$pstudent-work 000002739 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
