000002763 520__ $$aCasinos may influence adolescent gambling through exposure to pro-gambling environments and advertising, yet no studies have examined casino proximity and youth gambling. This study assessed whether living in a town with a casino is associated with lifetime gambling and gambling frequency among middle and high school students. Objectives included determining gambling prevalence, frequency, and associations with casino proximity. Casino proximity was defined by residence in a zip code within a town containing at least one casino. Findings will inform whether environmental factors, such as casino location, contribute to gambling behaviors in youth.
