000002789 520__ $$aHepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a common and serious complication following transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement in cirrhotic patients. While low post-TIPS hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) has been linked to HE, the association between the degree of HVPG reduction and HE risk remains unclear. This study aims to determine the prevalence of post-TIPS HE, identify the magnitude of HVPG reduction associated with increased HE risk, and explore additional contributing factors among patients undergoing TIPS at Oregon Health & Science University from 2002–2012.
