Nationwide caregivers provide 80% of the care given in the community. Dementia is increasingly cited as a reason for long-term care. In 2010, forty-two percent of residents in assisted living had Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias. When family caregivers (FCGs) can no longer provide the care required, transitioning into AL or other long-term care environments is often necessary. This dissertation used a qualitative descriptive approach to examine how the AL’s approach to visitation between the FCG and the PWD influenced the admission transition for the FCG. 000002828 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002828 650__ $$aHouse Calls$$020367 000002828 650__ $$aDementia$$017461 000002828 650__ $$aAssisted Living Facilities$$035048 000002828 650__ $$aCaregivers$$029631 000002828 650__ $$aLong-Term Care$$021614 000002828 650__ $$aAlzheimer Disease$$014513 000002828 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000002828 7001_ $$aSexson, Kathryn$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002828 7201_ $$aHarvath, Theresa$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eMentor$$eChair 000002828 8564_ $$9ff9d7b51-5c9e-4ce6-9fed-20e86d5e3595$$s614734$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2828/files/3596_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2e68370ee3506a0aa3f58b2b74b11ff55$$31 000002828 905__ $$a/rest/prod/25/14/nk/78/2514nk78r 000002828 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2828$$pstudent-work 000002828 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
