Through electron and fluorescence microscopy, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and microRNA microarray, I demonstrate that AML blasts secrete exosomes containing concentrated microRNA, the makeup of which clearly distinguishes cells from exosomes and nonmalignant hematopoietic cells from AML blasts. These exosomes are taken up by both HSPC and marrow stroma, transferring sufficient microRNA to effect as much as a 10-fold increase in cellular concentration. 000002834 540__ $$fCC BY 000002834 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002834 650__ $$aStem Cell Niche$$038188 000002834 650__ $$aExosomes$$038258 000002834 650__ $$aTumor Microenvironment$$039473 000002834 650__ $$aLeukemia, Myeloid, Acute$$028432 000002834 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002834 692__ $$aDepartment of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology$$041429 000002834 7001_ $$aHornick, Noah$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002834 7201_ $$aKurre, Peter$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eMentor$$eAdvisor 000002834 8564_ $$997477b52-b92f-4f08-bfa8-a139abcdfa60$$s3589970$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2834/files/3602_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2561ccefcb9443720fd34ea65c95df724$$31 000002834 905__ $$a/rest/prod/00/00/00/16/00000016w 000002834 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2834$$pstudent-work 000002834 956__ $$aGet Accessible Copy$$uhttps://ohsu.libwizard.com/f/requestaccessibledocument 000002834 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
