To transition from paper systems to electronic systems poses challenges to the traditional workflow of health service providers. Electronic systems pose new challenges such as privacy of patient records, integrity of medical record content, and maintaining continuity of care. It is important, therefore, to document these challenges and provide a conceptual framework of integrating electronic systems into day-to-day patient care and evaluating the possible benefits of such systems. Investments into these systems must be evaluated to measure the benefits of such technologies to patient care, public health systems, and outcomes research. 000002843 540__ $$fCC BY 000002843 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002843 650__ $$aProgram Evaluation$$028379 000002843 650__ $$aClinical Laboratory Information Systems$$016785 000002843 650__ $$aElectronic Health Records$$038928 000002843 650__ $$aOutcome Assessment, Health Care$$029660 000002843 650__ $$aWorkflow$$038890 000002843 650__ $$aHealth Information Management$$040148 000002843 650__ $$aContinuity of Patient Care$$017053 000002843 650__ $$aMedical Records Systems, Computerized$$029086 000002843 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002843 692__ $$aDepartment of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology$$041422 000002843 7001_ $$aSimbini, Tungamirirai$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002843 7201_ $$aGorman, Paul$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor$$eMentor 000002843 8564_ $$922634a68-e7b8-4aa5-a4a9-00e0891d8f3d$$s2232212$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2843/files/3611_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2abad66c6cc480e06f32424635857df8d$$31 000002843 905__ $$a/rest/prod/66/82/x4/14/6682x414j 000002843 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2843$$pstudent-work 000002843 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
