Prevalence of chronic disease within this segment creates challenges and thus an opportunity for health care informatics to be of value through the use of remote automated tailored health coaching. Coaching can positively influence health behaviors and tailored health messaging has been shown to be more effective than generic or targeted communication strategies. The objective of this project is to demonstrate that it is feasible to develop an automated, tailored health messaging system that will enable health coaches to provide service to a significantly large number of patients than could be coached using conventional Internet tools alone. 000002869 540__ $$fCC BY 000002869 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000002869 650__ $$aBiomedical Technology$$032719 000002869 650__ $$aBehavioral Medicine$$015416 000002869 650__ $$aHealth Behavior$$028413 000002869 650__ $$aInformatics$$036046 000002869 650__ $$aCommunication$$016935 000002869 650__ $$aChronic Disease$$016715 000002869 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000002869 650__ $$aAged$$014351 000002869 6531_ $$ahealth promotion methods 000002869 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000002869 692__ $$aDepartment of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology$$041422 000002869 7001_ $$aShapiro, Michael$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000002869 7201_ $$aJimison, Holly$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000002869 8564_ $$954ccbba4-5b74-4780-89ec-4c82914fe68d$$s6908804$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/2869/files/3638_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2ced91a59a3bae5a7858d5fb8879ea84d$$31 000002869 905__ $$a/rest/prod/g1/58/bh/52/g158bh52r 000002869 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:2869$$pstudent-work 000002869 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
