Results show that the Neurospora crassa arginine attenuator peptide (AAP) can transiently stall ribosomes in multiple contexts, with stalling occurring while the AAP remains in peptidyl‑tRNA form within the exit tunnel. The foot‑and‑mouth disease virus 2A peptide similarly induces a ribosome pause that promotes peptidyl‑tRNA hydrolysis. Additionally, the Salmonella protein FljA inhibits fliC translation by binding the 5′‑UTR and blocking ribosome access. These findings demonstrate the utility of in‑vitro assays for dissecting mechanisms of translational control. 000000306 540__ $$fCC BY 000000306 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000306 650__ $$aProtein Biosynthesis$$027274 000000306 650__ $$aPeptide Initiation Factors$$023762 000000306 650__ $$aProteins$$024763 000000306 650__ $$aFoot-and-Mouth Disease Virus$$033609 000000306 650__ $$aCarbamyl Phosphate$$016059 000000306 650__ $$aNeurospora crassa$$022874 000000306 6531_ $$anascent peptide 000000306 6531_ $$aprimer extension inhibition translational control 000000306 6531_ $$aprimer extension inhibition 000000306 6531_ $$acell-free translation 000000306 6531_ $$asynthesis 000000306 6531_ $$atranslational control 000000306 6531_ $$aribosome stalling 000000306 6531_ $$aprimer extension inhibition translational control 000000306 691__ $$aOGI School of Science and Engineering$$041365 000000306 692__ $$aDepartment of Environmental and Biomolecular Systems$$041414 000000306 7001_ $$aWu, Cheng$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000306 7201_ $$aSachs, Matthew$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000306 8564_ $$998c55edb-996f-4b37-a9af-cf58b5631314$$s1844465$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/306/files/306_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2ff9b3638916b2da6771e0f1871c6c987$$31 000000306 901__ $$a<p>These documents are archival records.
