TY - THES AB - Physician price awareness, a recognized knowledge gap may be an important contributor to reduced efficiency, a healthcare quality domain. Provider price display tools during computerized physician order entry (CPOE) have been studied as a strategy to improve healthcare quality domains. Systematic reviews published in 2015 and 2016 concluded that price display improves healthcare quality by reducing costs of care without reducing safety. Since the most recent systematic review, randomized controlled trials have been published in this field. Therefore, an updated review restricted to studies done in the electronic health record (EHR) environment was performed to study the association between EHR/CPOE provider price display and domains of healthcare quality (efficiency, effective care, patient centered care, patient safety, equitable care and timeliness of care).
