Obesity treatment is critical for mitigating the detrimental effects of obesity on early disability, disease burden, and quality of life. Investigation of bariatric surgery outcomes among Medicaid patients is a critical step in informing appropriate obesity treatment guidelines for low-income patient populations with severe obesity. This dissertation aimed to evaluate the long-term success of bariatric surgical care in Medicaid beneficiaries, compared to commercially insured patients by 1.) systematically summarizing the existing evidence, 2.) assessing long-term weight loss and regain patterns, and 3.) determining the changes to comorbidity prevalence over time. 000003075 540__ $$fCC BY 000003075 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000003075 650__ $$aObesity$$023118 000003075 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000003075 650__ $$aMedicaid$$021932 000003075 650__ $$aHealthcare Disparities$$037945 000003075 650__ $$aBariatric Surgery$$036310 000003075 650__ $$aTreatment Outcome$$029508 000003075 691__ $$aOHSU-PSU School of Public Health$$041366 000003075 7001_ $$aTakemoto, Erin$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000003075 7201_ $$aBoone-Heinonen, Janne$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eChair 000003075 8564_ $$96274c896-9383-4a7d-b4b2-3ef097350514$$s1973560$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/3075/files/4008_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$20031950cb4d7e34a6e2c41799520e833$$31 000003075 905__ $$a/rest/prod/n0/09/w2/55/n009w255c 000003075 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:3075$$pstudent-work 000003075 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
