This is particularly true for mental healthcare providers working in correctional settings. A literature search on available psychological tests and screening tools to detect malingering is presented, as well as specialized assessment techniques and ethical and legal implications of their use. A proposed quality improvement project is also discussed, with emphasis on conducting a staff training and implementing the Miller Forensic Assessment of Symptoms Test (M-FAST) to improve detection of malingering and access to care for those with genuine mental health needs. 000003080 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000003080 650__ $$aHealth Personnel$$019889 000003080 650__ $$aHealth Services Accessibility$$019904 000003080 650__ $$aQuality Improvement$$039456 000003080 650__ $$aPrisons$$024599 000003080 650__ $$aPsychological Tests$$024834 000003080 650__ $$aMental Health$$022046 000003080 650__ $$aMalingering$$021770 000003080 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000003080 7001_ $$aCastello, Marla$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000003080 8564_ $$9981cb56d-8b95-4112-8a67-2b28b86397c6$$s120821$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/3080/files/4035_etd.pdf 000003080 905__ $$a/rest/prod/1v/53/jx/14/1v53jx14c 000003080 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:3080$$pstudent-work 000003080 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
