Not all nursing leaders possess necessary elements of emotional intelligence (EI) which is foundational to supporting nurses directly impacting patient care. Although numerous studies connect high levels of EI with successful leaders outside healthcare, few studies have been conducted within nursing practice. A project was undertaken to determine which attributes (also referred to as facets) of EI are most desired by clinical nurses in charge nurses and nurse managers. The purpose of the study is to improve charge nurse and nurse manager EI through identification of specific competencies that need development. 000003083 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000003083 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000003083 650__ $$aPatient Care$$019442 000003083 650__ $$aEmotional Intelligence$$038588 000003083 650__ $$aLeadership$$021357 000003083 650__ $$aNursing, Supervisory$$023098 000003083 650__ $$aNurse Administrators$$023071 000003083 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000003083 7001_ $$aHolm, Carol$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000003083 8564_ $$90cc1d9df-0846-4b2d-adee-1b31515f70ae$$s1584585$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/3083/files/4038_etd.pdf 000003083 905__ $$a/rest/prod/1v/53/jx/15/1v53jx15n 000003083 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:3083$$pstudent-work 000003083 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
