As this population continues to grow, there is a rising prevalence of older patients within the United States’ healthcare system. The increase in amount of older adult patients in the ICU and their severity of illness has necessitated that providers be knowledgeable about the complex physiologic changes of aging when combined with critical illness or injury. The purpose of this project was to create a checklist that could be used in the ICU to give providers evidence-based, age-appropriate suggestions to help guide the care of the critically ill older adult. The checklist was then tested in one ICU to determine if providers found it to be useful and if it could help them give better care to this specific population. 000003090 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000003090 650__ $$aPatient Acuity$$040012 000003090 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000003090 650__ $$aCritical Illness$$029279 000003090 650__ $$aIntensive Care Units$$020904 000003090 650__ $$aAged$$014351 000003090 650__ $$aAging$$014358 000003090 650__ $$aChecklist$$038891 000003090 650__ $$aQuality Improvement$$039456 000003090 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000003090 7001_ $$aTwitchell, Karleena$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000003090 8564_ $$9a6ff9199-7887-4161-b5cb-86c29bbcc355$$s978985$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/3090/files/4045_etd.pdf 000003090 905__ $$a/rest/prod/1r/66/j1/41/1r66j1416 000003090 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:3090$$pstudent-work 000003090 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
