N2  - In the first of two interviews, Gwynn Brice Dockery talks of her experiences in the 1930s and 1940s, first as a student at the London School of Economics in the years 1937-1939, and then as a member of the Administration at the University of Oregon Medical School. She joined UOMS in 1943 as administrative assistant to Ralf Couch, business manager and Administrator of Hospitals. After his death, she grew ever more prominent in clinic and hospital administration, taking over the Out Patient Clinic and increasing her work with the Tuberculosis Hospital and Doernbecher Memorial Hospital as well. She speaks of the wartime campus with accelerated education and military drills. She refers to the problems of staffing, pay and patient care. In the second interview, she refers to postgraduate education of returning physicians, and the importance of record keeping and new technology. She also speaks of other faculty members and medical education.
