In this interview, McGill discusses the organization and administration in these early years of university consolidation, touching on issues of funding, planning, and community relations. He talks about structure in place when he arrived, and of the role of the Vice President in day-to-day activities. He shares Dr. Laster's vision for OHSU, including building a top-notch faculty and expanded research facilities. Sen. Mark Hatfield played a large part in advancing Laster's agenda. McGill eventually took a larger role, assuming responsibility for most internal activities. This included much work on the campus master plan, which laid the foundation for the building the Casey Eye Clinic, the BICC, and Doernbecher Memorial Hospital. He also talks about the financial challenges he faced during his tenure at OHSU, in terms of state and research funding, as well as clinical funding. 000003236 540__ $$fCC BY-NC 000003236 542__ $$fIn Copyright - Educational Use Permitted 000003236 650__ $$aSchool Management and Organization$$041897 000003236 650__ $$aFaculty$$018865 000003236 650__ $$aHealthcare Financing$$039986 000003236 650__ $$aBiomedical Research$$034689 000003236 7102_ $$aOregon Health & Science University$$010958 000003236 720__ $$7Personal$$aAsh, Joan S.
