      abstract = {Christine Tanner, R.N., Ph.D., F.A.A.N., discusses her  personal and professional life, beginning with a brief  description of her childhood in Colorado, followed by her  education and becoming interested in the field of nursing.  Dr. Tanner goes on to talk about meeting Carol Lindeman,  moving to Portland, and her early involvement with the OHSU  School of Nursing (then University of Oregon) and the  Office of Research and Development and Utilization in the  late 1970s. She also discusses her own research projects,  becoming Associate Dean of the undergraduate program,  Oregon's role in the field of nursing, grant funding,  professional awards and achievements, and her role as  editor of the Journal of Nursing Education. She also  discusses her personal life outside of nursing, including  the decision to have kids with life partner, Lisa, and the  persisting stigmas and political hurdles faced by the LGBT  community throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Dr. Tanner  concludes the interview by describing major changes in the  university over time as well as her observations on the  evolution of LGBT healthcare.},
