This thesis examines the Palm network as a biologically inspired associative memory model that approximates Bayesian inference in a distributed manner. We analyze its computational properties, including scalability, stability, fault tolerance, and parallel processing, and interpret its operation as a Voronoi‑based classifier. Extensions to weighted regions, reinforcement learning, and spiking neuron implementations are explored. Building on this analysis, we propose a Bayesian Memory framework that supports hierarchical organization, bidirectional information flow, and efficient data reduction, providing a theoretical foundation for scalable associative memory networks capable of supporting cognitive‑level processing. 000000334 540__ $$fCC BY 000000334 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000334 650__ $$aCognition$$016868 000000334 650__ $$aDecision Theory$$017422 000000334 650__ $$aInformation Storage and Retrieval$$028998 000000334 650__ $$aBayes Theorem$$015392 000000334 650__ $$aAssociation Learning$$015164 000000334 6531_ $$ahierarchical associative networks 000000334 6531_ $$abayesian memory 000000334 6531_ $$avector quantization 000000334 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000334 692__ $$aDepartment of Science and Engineering$$041447 000000334 7001_ $$aZhu, Shaojuan$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000334 7201_ $$aHammerstrom, Dan$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000334 8564_ $$9ae605432-6d9a-4abe-b477-ef9ac9332dbd$$s648327$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/334/files/335_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$24cd71399b52bec3a17dd0ffd04b2df58$$31 000000334 901__ $$a<p>These documents are archival records.
