This crossover study examined how LC and high–complex carbohydrate (HC) meals influence appetite‑related hormones and subjective hunger in 10 healthy adults. Postprandial measurements over 9.5 hours showed that LC meals produced higher PYY and GLP‑1 responses and lower glucose, insulin, and leptin levels compared to HC meals, with no differences in ghrelin. Despite significant hormonal differences, subjective hunger and fullness ratings did not differ between meal types. These findings suggest LC meals alter key satiety‑related hormones, which may contribute to reduced appetite reported with LC diets. 000000389 540__ $$fCC BY 000000389 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000389 650__ $$aPeptide YY$$031966 000000389 650__ $$aGhrelin$$037844 000000389 650__ $$aGlucagon-Like Peptide 1$$037133 000000389 650__ $$aDiet$$017776 000000389 650__ $$aDiet, Carbohydrate-Restricted 000000389 650__ $$aHunger$$020388 000000389 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000389 692__ $$aGraduate Programs in Human Nutrition$$041470 000000389 7001_ $$aKumagai, Melissa$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000389 8564_ $$940433afd-108d-47d5-bcd4-23a66d8ad968$$s904959$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/389/files/390_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2d8841c4e9b91fa74706f42f5c9984759$$31 000000389 905__ $$a/rest/prod/66/82/x3/94/6682x3948 000000389 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:389$$pstudent-work 000000389 956__ $$aGet Accessible Copy$$uhttps://ohsu.libwizard.com/f/requestaccessibledocument 000000389 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
