000000395 520__ $$aThis study examined whether unfavorable lipoprotein subfractions, including LDL and HDL levels, are associated with increased risk of ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). A cohort of 200 patients was drawn from a multicenter randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled trial conducted between 1999 and 2003 that evaluated omega‑3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in individuals with prior sustained VT or VF. The parent trial found that fish oil did not reduce arrhythmia risk and could be proarrhythmic in some patients. Using this dataset, the present investigation explores whether baseline lipoprotein profiles may serve as independent risk markers for recurrent malignant ventricular arrhythmias.
