The specific aims of the study were to 1) describe the lived experiences of African American women with PPD in the context of society, 2) describe African American women’s background meanings and concerns surrounding their experiences with PPD, and 3) examine the impact of familial and otherwise significant relationships in providing social support to African American women with PPD. The paucity of information surrounding African American women with PPD and lack of a critical theory framework supported the need for this study. 000004032 540__ $$fCC BY 000004032 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000004032 650__ $$aSocioeconomic Factors$$026134 000004032 650__ $$aSocial Support$$026119 000004032 650__ $$aBlack or African American$$015616 000004032 650__ $$aHermeneutics$$040851 000004032 650__ $$aDepression, Postpartum$$031315 000004032 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000004032 7001_ $$aHorton, LaShawn$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000004032 7201_ $$aHassouneh, Dena$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000004032 8564_ $$90f33e136-a61b-465a-9a46-59a5b131a672$$s2086609$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/4032/files/horton.lashawn.2018.pdf$$ePublic$$207821505408be27fe697a91a7504dc08$$31 000004032 905__ $$a/rest/prod/z8/90/rt/51/z890rt51p 000004032 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:4032$$pstudent-work 000004032 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
