The Triple Aim has been a successful scaffolding for discussing ways to improve healthcare delivery. Translating the original aims, this paper examines three critical research aims: 1) Researching to improve population health; 2) Improving the experience of research subjects; and 3) Lowering the total cost of research per unit of disease burden improved. For each aim, we discuss key stakeholders, relevant Just as the allocation of limited healthcare resources is an ethics issue, we can say the same of the finite dollars spent by the federal government on biomedical research. Misappropriated and wasted money delays improving the lives of those afflicted with disease. From this, we conclude quickly that research dollars should be distributed and used in ways that meet ethical tests including that of distributive justice. Policy levers, a common and effective means of pushing national activities in a desired direction, could be targeted to achieve a more ethical approach to how we allocate research funding in the US. 000004043 650__ $$aPolicy$$038967 000004043 650__ $$aGovernment$$019708 000004043 650__ $$aNational Institutes of Health (U.S.)$$022711 000004043 650__ $$aEthics, Medical$$018687 000004043 650__ $$aEthics, Research$$034441 000004043 650__ $$aHealthcare Financing$$039986 000004043 6531_ $$atriple aim healthcare 000004043 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000004043 692__ $$aDivision of Management$$041635 000004043 7001_ $$aBurdick, Tim$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000004043 8564_ $$99eac25cd-dd53-46b7-8da5-357ce90a4f1e$$s324503$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/4043/files/The_Research_Triple_Aim__Ethics_As_a_Policy_Driver_for_Funding.pdf 000004043 905__ $$a/rest/prod/8s/45/q9/07/8s45q907c 000004043 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:4043$$pstudent-work 000004043 980__ $$aReflections on Healthcare Management
