N2  - Medication for opioid use disorder is an established treatment modality for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). Individuals in rural communities with OUD face significant barriers to methadone treatment in the U.S. Probably the most significant barrier to treatment with methadone is the fact that only 4% of medication units are in rural communities in the United States. In Seaside, Oregon, CODA, a substance abuse treatment clinic, established a medication unit early in 2020 to help more than 300 people struggling with opioid use disorder. Their goal is to expand its patient base and improve access to treatment, CODA plans to partner with a local organization to establish another medication unit. This project used survey data from local stakeholders and local rates of opioid abuse to recommend a suitable location for an additional medication unit in the North Coast Region of Oregon.
