Here we will discuss new tools for 2D and 3D data analysis in the ALMC and demonstrate how they make image analysis more accurate and efficient for OHSU researchers. Intellesis machine learning performs challenging 2D segmentation of fluorescence and brightfield data. This segmentation forms the foundation of many downstream analyses, such as counting objects or assessing fluorescence intensity within specific structures. Intensity-based segmentation struggles with images that have high background or high signal variability. Intellesis machine learning can be trained to identify objects by iterative user-guided pixel painting on a few images. This supervised learning trains the neural net to discriminate between background and object based on a large set of parameters, not just local pixel intensity. We will present examples of machine learning segmentation on fluorescence images, colorimetric staining, and transmitted light images from users at the ALMC. 000041298 540__ $$fCC BY 000041298 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000041298 650__ $$aNeurosciences$$022870 000041298 650__ $$aMachine Learning$$011449 000041298 650__ $$aArtificial Intelligence$$015109 000041298 650__ $$aDiagnostic Imaging$$017700 000041298 650__ $$aColorimetry$$016918 000041298 6531_ $$aimage analysis tools 000041298 6531_ $$amicroscopy image analysis 000041298 6531_ $$amachine learning based segmentation 000041298 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000041298 692__ $$aDepartment of Neurology$$041431 000041298 7001_ $$aBronstein, Hannah S.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041298 7001_ $$aKelly, Felice D.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041298 7001_ $$aJenkins, Brian$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041298 7001_ $$aPetrie, Stefanie K.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041298 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2023 000041298 8564_ $$99811f43b-2d6e-4039-9301-b05012a83fe6$$s275062$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/41298/files/ResearchWeek.2023.Bronstein.Hannah.pdf 000041298 980__ $$aResearch Week 000041298 981__ $$aPublished$$b2023-07-19
