TY - THES N2 - Increasing evidence has shown that shift work impairs health, such as a 50% increased risk of breast cancer, a 40% increased risk for obesity, and a 40% increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Over 25% of the American population is employed in a shift work schedule, consisting of irregular or overnight work hours. The goal of the current study is to determine potential changes to diet and health when individuals transition from a day work to shift work schedule. To uncover any potential dietary changes, we will examine the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) scores, saturated fat intake, and added sugar intake. The aim of this study is to evaluate if participants’ HEI scores will change when participants transition to shiftwork.
