Physicians play a significant role in this waste when they order low-value tests, imaging, and interventions. Previous studies involving resident education have demonstrated the ability to decrease inappropriate laboratory test ordering without negatively impacting the quality of care. Translating these findings to undergraduate medical education, we explored the feasibility of integrating value-based care education into existing platforms in Oregon Health and Science University’s (OHSU) medical school curricula. We hypothesized that curricular changes could improve medical student knowledge, attitudes, and competency with high-value cost-conscious medical care (HVCCC). 000041618 540__ $$fCC BY 000041618 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000041618 650__ $$aEducation$$018215 000041618 650__ $$aJudgment$$021126 000041618 650__ $$aValue-Based Health Care$$013946 000041618 650__ $$aUnnecessary Procedures$$031694 000041618 650__ $$aEducation, Medical, Undergraduate$$018226 000041618 650__ $$aStudents, Medical$$026492 000041618 650__ $$aEducation, Medical$$018223 000041618 6531_ $$aresource stewardship 000041618 6531_ $$ahigh-value cost-conscious medical care 000041618 6531_ $$alaboratory testing 000041618 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000041618 7001_ $$aTan, Aylmer$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041618 7001_ $$aEapen, Sruthi$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041618 7001_ $$aGorman, Paul N.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041618 7001_ $$aScholl, Gretchen$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041618 7001_ $$aSmeraglio, Andrea$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000041618 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2023 000041618 8564_ $$993f615cd-d24b-42b1-8e5c-d34a4f756508$$s174759$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/41618/files/ResearchWeek.2023.Tan.Aylmer.pdf 000041618 980__ $$aResearch Week 000041618 981__ $$aPublished$$b2023-08-21
