N2  - This publication provides an overview of pediatric care at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, previously called the Doernbecher Memorial Hospital for Children, from 1926 to 1966. Throughout that period there were great advancements in pediatric medicine, not just for physical well-being, which is vital during times of rapid development, but also for emotional and mental health among younger patients, like allowing for less isolation between children receiving treatment and their parents. In addition, this issue highlights the work of a night clinic in what was then referred to as Portland’s skid row, located in the northwest area of the city. There, medical students, who were members of the Christian Medical Society, and physicians would treat those in need who might not otherwise be able to access more traditional outpatient care.
