This dissertation work establishes both neurobiological and psychosocial predictors of internalizing psychopathology in adolescence by leveraging several advanced statistical and machine learning techniques in a large and demographically diverse sample. Aim 1 of this project uses resting-state fMRI data to identify a profile of functional connectivity (a 'polyneuro risk score') that is associated with internalizing symptoms, whereas Aim 2 focuses on combining psychosocial, environmental, and behavioral variables to predict symptoms. The findings from these two analyses highlight the utility of multivariate modeling strategies for prediction and also help to reconcile decades of prior literature examining key factors related to the emergence of anxiety and depression in youth. 000042387 540__ $$fCC BY 000042387 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000042387 650__ $$aAdolescent Development$$035141 000042387 650__ $$aDepression$$017614 000042387 650__ $$aAnxiety$$014946 000042387 650__ $$aFunctional Neuroimaging$$039661 000042387 650__ $$aPsychosocial Functioning$$013371 000042387 6531_ $$aadolescence, internalizing psychopathology, resting-state fmri 000042387 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000042387 692__ $$aDepartment of Behavioral Neuroscience$$041394 000042387 7001_ $$aKliamovich, Dakota$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$10000-0002-9469-8731 000042387 7201_ $$aNigg, Joel$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCommittee chair$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aGraham, Alice$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCommittee member$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aMackiewicz Seghete, Kristen$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCommittee member$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aMitchell, Suzanne$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCommittee member$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aNagel, Bonnie$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eMentor$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aMiranda-Dominguez, Oscar$$uUniversity of Minnesota$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aByington, Nora$$uUniversity of Minnesota$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aEspinoza, Abigail$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aLopez Flores, Arturo$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aHarman, Gareth$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 7201_ $$aFair, Damien$$uUniversity of Minnesota$$eCollaborator$$7Personal 000042387 8564_ $$997ed4c0b-b97d-414c-a6a9-61b43060b797$$s6000913$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/42387/files/Kliamovich.Dakota.2023.pdf 000042387 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:42387$$pstudent-work 000042387 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations 000042387 981__ $$aPublished$$b2023-12-19
