This paper explores the knowledge and perceptions of NPs' roles within surgical services at a metropolitan academic hospital. An anonymous survey was distributed to surgical team members, including physicians, NPs, physician assistants (PAs), residents, and medical students. The survey aimed to assess understanding of NP SOP and perceptions of their role in surgical services. Results indicate a significant knowledge gap among physicians regarding NP autonomy and scope of practice, potentially hindering full utilization of NPs. The study underscores the importance of addressing knowledge deficits among physicians to enhance NP utilization in surgical settings. These findings provide valuable insights for future interventions aimed at optimizing NP roles and improving patient care outcomes in surgical services. 000042891 540__ $$fPublic Domain 000042891 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000042891 650__ $$aScope of Practice$$012985 000042891 650__ $$aNurse Practitioners$$023075 000042891 650__ $$aSurgery Department, Hospital$$026645 000042891 650__ $$aPerception$$023779 000042891 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000042891 650__ $$aPatient Care$$019442 000042891 650__ $$aPhysician Assistants$$024119 000042891 650__ $$aStudents, Medical$$026492 000042891 650__ $$aProfessional Autonomy$$029613 000042891 6531_ $$asurgical settings 000042891 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000042891 7001_ $$aClausen, Melanie$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000042891 7201_ $$aHaboush, Lily$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$eChair$$7Personal 000042891 789__ $$eCites 000042891 8564_ $$951ed62ab-a240-4ecb-8ddf-efd0a2ee5fbe$$s839497$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/42891/files/Clausen.Melanie.2024.pdf 000042891 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:42891$$pstudent-work 000042891 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations 000042891 981__ $$aPublished$$b2024-05-10
