Even with this substantial progress and downward trend, reducing pregnancies in adolescence still remains on the Healthy People 2030 objectives because of the community wide impact felt from teen pregnancy. This paper was written as part of a Community Outreach Project for the Physician Assistant Program at OHSU and discusses contraceptive education as a means to decrease teen pregnancy rates. I then presented a contraceptive education lesson to a class of high school students in Portland, OR. In this paper, I discuss the downward trend of teen pregnancy rates in America, why teen pregnancy is a medical and social problem that we should still care about and how contraceptive education is an effective tool to help youth make safe decisions. 000043309 540__ $$fCC BY 000043309 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000043309 650__ $$aContraception$$017054 000043309 650__ $$aPregnancy in Adolescence$$024529 000043309 650__ $$aSex Education$$025926 000043309 651__ $$aOregon$$041094 000043309 6531_ $$acontraceptive education 000043309 6531_ $$ateen pregnancy 000043309 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000043309 7001_ $$aBellairs, Anastasia$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043309 8564_ $$9926c18c3-5474-406c-8fef-9d377a19e4b9$$s153372$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/43309/files/Bellairs.Anastasia.2024.pdf 000043309 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:43309$$pstudent-work 000043309 980__ $$aPhysician Assistant Program collection 000043309 981__ $$aPublished$$b2024-06-05
