TY - GEN N2 - Needle procedures, like immunizations and phlebotomy, are very common in outpatient settings that provide care to the pediatric population. Though much is known about the experience of pain and its management in this age group, there is a documented knowledge-to-action gap wherein the literature has not been translated into protocols for needle procedures. This quality improvement project utilized the Kirkpatrick Model and the Iowa Model of implementation science to create and deliver an educational intervention for staff in an outpatient pediatric clinic. This intervention was designed to improve staff confidence and competence on the topic in preparation for the implementation of a standardized needle procedure protocol for pain management.
