These factors, although not fully understood, are closely linked to the metabolic effects of elevated hormones during pregnancy. Studies suggest GDM can cause offspring to develop impaired glucose tolerance. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, increases hepatic insulin sensitivity, and combats GDM/IR conditions. It is unknown how metformin exposure during fetal development impacts glucose homeostasis in offspring.}, url = {http://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/43562}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.6083/bpxhc43562}, }
