The two most common first-line analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids, both have the potential to confound experimental outcomes depending on the research paradigm. If only one of these drug classes is compatible with a particular study design, a different adjunctive analgesic may be necessary to provide sufficient pain management and ensure animal welfare. A retroactive assessment of pain behaviors from the first 30-60 min postoperatively will also be evaluated. 000043647 540__ $$fCC BY 000043647 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000043647 650__ $$aKetamine$$021167 000043647 650__ $$aRats, Sprague-Dawley$$029776 000043647 650__ $$aGrooming$$019747 000043647 650__ $$aRats$$036844 000043647 650__ $$aPain Management$$039572 000043647 650__ $$aPain, Postoperative$$023479 000043647 650__ $$aPain Measurement$$023477 000043647 6531_ $$apostoperative analgesia 000043647 692__ $$aOregon National Primate Research Center$$041497 000043647 7001_ $$aAlionhart, Rachael$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043647 7001_ $$aCarlson, McKayla$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043647 7001_ $$aWhite, Alina$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043647 7001_ $$aSaunders, Kim$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043647 7001_ $$aKopanke, Jennifer$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043647 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2024 000043647 8564_ $$98b03a6a8-7210-4e68-876e-7009061a62e0$$s183849$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/43647/files/ResearchWeek.2024.Alionhart.Rachael.pdf 000043647 980__ $$aResearch Week
