Demographics should be representative of the complexity and intersectionality of student identities, with Executive Orders calling for expansion of demographic data collection practices to incorporate broader categories of race, ethnicity, religion, income, geography, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability. In August 2023, OHSU received a new five-year Science Education Partnership Award from the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Data Science Strategy to expand data science training for middle and high school students. The collaborative project aims to 1) identify considerations for inclusive demographic data collection and responsible reporting; 2) establish a training collaborative that aligns qualitative research with data science outputs to enhance authentic representation of a diverse biomedical workforce; and 3) characterize how demographic data are used to make decisions and inform practice. 000043666 540__ $$fCC BY 000043666 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000043666 650__ $$aDiversity, Equity, Inclusion$$013904 000043666 650__ $$aData Science$$012787 000043666 6531_ $$adiversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) 000043666 6531_ $$arepresentation 000043666 6531_ $$ademographics 000043666 6531_ $$aoutreach 000043666 6531_ $$aeducational scholarship 000043666 691__ $$aOHSU-PSU School of Public Health$$041366 000043666 7001_ $$aParis, Stephanie$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043666 7001_ $$aEspinosa, Shanthia N.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043666 7001_ $$aLink, Aaron R.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043666 7001_ $$aBraley, Amanda$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043666 7001_ $$aMarriott, Lisa K.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000043666 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2024 000043666 8564_ $$92d63515f-2857-4a9c-8766-39859f28a858$$s188896$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/43666/files/ResearchWeek.2024.Paris.Stephanie.pdf 000043666 980__ $$aResearch Week
